Funeral service for Robert “Bob” Malcolm McGill, Jr. will be at 3 pm Sunday, August 2, 2020, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery near Hagewood, LA. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time on the 2nd at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Bob, 71 years of age and a long-time resident of Natchitoches, passed away on July 30, 2020. He was born on July 2, 1949 to Robert McGill, Sr. and Mary Alice Brannon McGill in Centreville, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Sean Eric McGill; and a sister, Mary Alice Payne. He is survived by his wife, Melanie Cooper McGill; children, Commander Robert “Bubba”Alton McGill, Sr. of Bryan, TX, Frances McGill Morrow of Alexandria, LA, and Jonathan McGill of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Kalin McGill of Matthews, NC, Robert Alton McGill, Jr. of Matthews, NC, Kenneth Gavan McGill of Boone, NC, Sean Walker Morrow of Alexandria, LA, Macy Elysse Morrow of Alexandria, LA, and Stephen Eric McGill of Rochester, NY; as well as a brother, James McGill of Gulfport, MS. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
