The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Rob was born in Savannah, Georgia on June 25, 1959 to Myrtle Earline Lovette Hamm and Thomas Edward Hamm. He passed away on May 16, 2021, in Natchitoches, LA at the age of 61. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Tamala Smith Hamm; his son, Joshua Robert Hamm, Sr. and wife Asha; his daughter, Katherine Victoria Martin and husband Zachary; and his brother, Tommy Hamm. He was known as Big Daddy to his grandchildren, Connor Jay Hamm, Cailynn Grace Hamm, Joshua Robert Hamm, Jr., Aniya Ali’anna Woullard, Nevaeh Noelle Townsend, Valor Ruth Hamm, Lilyanna Suzanne Martin. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Kim Cain and husband Gene; brothers-in-law, Dean Smith and wife Maryan and Chris Smith and wife Julie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Rob is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Wayne Hamm, David Hamm, Maxie Hamm, and sister Carolyn McQuaig. His first love was family. His kids and grandkids were his pride and joy. He had an unforgettable personality and was affectionately known as Pops to dozens of his children’s friends and teammates. He was always willing to open his home to anyone in need. His second love was being an OTR truck driver. His career was cut short due to an 18-wheeler wreck which took away the eyesight he needed to drive. Rob always said there were only two types of trucks, Peterbilts and all the rest. He swore that if he ever won the lottery he would have a Peterbilt as a yard ornament. He always said whenever he passed, he was going to be God’s personal janitor and spend his time raking the clouds wherever they were needed. He never like to say goodbye, because goodbyes are forever. So until we see you again, we love you, later.
