Rosa Lee Ward deMille

Rosa Lee was born on April 24, 1945 in Natchitoches, LA to Carlis and Eula Booty Ward. She passed away on October 22, 2024 in Natchitoches.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her 2nd husband, John DeMille; her 1st husband, Floyd Edmoundson; two brothers, Lee Allen Ward and John E. Ward; three sisters, Inez Harwell, Shirley Ann Ward, and Joy Rodrigues; and one nephew, Joshua Ward.

Rosa is survived by three brothers; James Ward and wife Shirley Nell of Kurthwood, LA, Robert Ward and wife Frances of Gilmer, TX, and Michael Ward of Lotus, LA; one sister, Peggy Lindsey of Lotus, LA; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Rosa grew up in Lotus, LA and was a graduate of Provencal High School.  She was employed by the Houston Chronicle for 31 years. She began her career in January of 1970 as a Key Punch Operator in data processing. She earned many promotions over the years and retired as Circulation Field Administrative Manager in March of 2001.

Rosa and her husband, John, raised Arabian horses at their ranch, The Singing Breeze, for a few years after her retirement. They then spent their final retirement years at the Ward homeplace in Lotus, LA.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Bellwood Baptist Church with Bro. Roger Matkin officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 1 pm until 2 pm on Saturday the 26th at Bellwood Baptist Church located at 5498 Highway 117, Bellwood, LA 71468.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Adam Varnell, Marcus Ward, Jason Sauve, Elton Allen, Jim Ward, and Randall Ward. Honorary pallbearers will be Seath Vallery and Sean Wester.
