Rose Mary Nielsen passed away on July 14, 2024 in Calvin, LA, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 17, 1959, in Shreveport, LA, Rose was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend.
During her career, Rose dedicated many years to working at St. Mary's Training Center. Her commitment to service extended beyond the workplace as she held a servant's heart and found joy in making others happy, particularly through her talent for preparing delicious meals. Known for her culinary skills, Rose delighted in cooking and sharing meals for various events at The Pentecostal Campgrounds in Tioga, LA. She was also an active member of the United Pentecostal Church in Colfax and found immense solace and joy in worship alongside her church family.
Rose is survived by her husband Bruce Nielsen; son Doyle Reese Smith, Jr.; daughters Rachell Smith and Arlene Smith; loving sister Sheree DuBois; and brother Vernon L. Carter, Jr. She was also blessed with 12 grandchildren, with one great grandchild already gracing her life and another great grandchild on the way.
She is preceded in death by her parents Vernon Carter, Sr., and Mary Catherine Desadier Carter and 1 grandchild.
A visitation to honor Rose's memory will be held at the First United Pentecostal Church of Colfax on Thursday July 18th from noon until 7:00 PM. A going home service will take place at First United Pentecostal Church of Colfax on Friday July 19th at 11:30 AM followed by burial at St. Maurice Cemetery in St. Maurice, LA.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Mikey Dean, Brandon DuBois, Dylan Racine, Aswell Racine, Wyatt Dunn, Ariana DuBois, and Scott Parker.
Rose Mary Nielsen will be remembered for her kind spirit, culinary talents, and unwavering dedication to her family. May her legacy of love and generosity live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
