Roy A. Coolman, Sr., born on November 9, 1942 and passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother whose life was marked by love, dedication, and a profound faith that guided him throughout his years.
Roy was the beloved husband of Carol Ann Jones Coolman, and together they would have celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage on December 24th . Their enduring partnership was a testament to their deep bond, as they were often seen as true sidekicks, inseparable in their daily lives. Roy found immense joy in spending time with his family, who were at the center of his heart.
He is survived by the cherished love of his life, Carol Ann Jones Coolman; daughter, Jeanette Coolman, and son, Roy (R.J.) Coolman Jr. (Danelli), both of St. Maurice, along with his son Norman Coolman (Janet) of Natchitoches. His legacy continues through his grandchildren Heather Coolman, Danielle, Megan, Austin, William, John (Kelsey), and great-grandchildren Bailey, Ethan, Sawyer, Camden, with an additional great-grandchild on the way. Roy's siblings, Olan Coolman and Eddie Coolman (Sherry) of Olla, and sister Teresa James of Montgomery, hold dear the memories they shared. He is also remembered fondly by his fur baby, Trixie.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Alen Coolman and Jewel Garza, as well as his late son, David Lee Coolman, and granddaughter, Searra O'Neal. He is also preceded by his brothers Hubert, Robert (Bob), Gilbert(Teleha)(the wife of Glibert), and Junior Coolman, and sisters Katherine Rice, Carolyn Carter, and Rebecca (Becky) Coolman.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers: Norman Coolman, RJ Coolman, Nick Phillips, Brad Williams, Mike Jeane, and Ronnie Cooley.
Roy was a man of many talents; known for his woodworking skills, he was a true carpenter who could create intricate pieces without the need for a pattern. His passion for craftsmanship was evident in his ability to look at something or even a simple picture and bring it to life. In pursuit of his wood projects, he ingeniously constructed his own personal sawmill to cut trees into lumber. Additionally, he had a knack for fixing almost anything, a skill that endeared him to many. In addition to his craftsmanship, Roy greatly loved fishing alongside family and friends, creating lasting memories in the tranquil outdoors. His fondness for westerns and family time brought laughter and joy into his life.
Most importantly he was a man of God, Roy’s faith was evident in all aspects of his life.
Roy A. Coolman, Sr. will forever be loved and missed, but never forgotten. A graveside service was held on December 7, 2024, at St. Maurice Cemetery in St. Maurice, Louisiana, at 2:00 PM. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
