Sara Haynes Sanders went home to her Lord and Savior on February 15, 2018. A graveside gathering and celebration of her life will be held Friday, February 23, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Memory Lawn Cemetery, 2343 LA-6 E, Natchitoches, LA. 71457. Funeral arrangements provided by the Blanchard St. Denis funeral home in Natchitoches, LA. Sara was born February 21, 1936 in Natchitoches, LA to Everett Haygood Haynes and Leona Erwin Haynes. In 1954 she graduated from Natchitoches High School and received her undergraduate and master’s degree from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. She also attended L.S.U. in Baton Rouge, LA where she was a Tiger cheerleader and a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She taught school in Caddo Parish retiring as middle school counselor at Ridgewood middle school. She returned to work at N.S.U. as coordinator of teacher certification and later as a counselor in several schools in Caddo parish. Sara was devoted to her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Sara was a member of Broadmoor Baptist church, where she was active in her Sunday school class. Sara was preceded in death by her parents, E.H. and Leona Haynes. She is survived by her son Jim Sanders of Shreveport and her daughter Susan Sanders Magner and husband Mark of Houston, grandsons Grant Magner and wife Brittany of Dallas and Casey Magner of Houston and several nieces and nephews.
