Saydie Maye Smith Johnson, age 93, of Alexandria, LA, passed away on August 14th, 2022. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and a fantastic seamstress. She lived a good portion of her life on a farm in Archibald, LA. Maye met her husband, Olan Noble Johnson, in Natchitoches after WWII. It was love at first sight and they were married on Memorial Day 1947. They raised their family in Texas City, TX and Natchitoches, LA. Maye was a strong woman who loved to be surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents David Smith and Nellie Bozeman Smith, her husband Olan Noble Johnson, her son David O Johnson, her brother Nathaniel Smith, and her great-great grandchild Nolan James. She is survived by her children Gaile Graham (Henry), David C Johnson, and Tina Simmons (Travis); sister-in-law Lois Smith; daughter in law Lequita Johnson. As well as her grandchildren Jill Schweda (Chris), Janet Fedele (Steve), and Dylan Johnson; her great grandchildren Austin Johnson (Chelsea), Jeremy Johnson, Allison Johnson, Taylor Simmons (Jim), Noah Schweda, Ryenn Schweda, Audrey Fedele, and Sawyer Fedele; and great great grandchildren. There will be a grave side service held at 10:30 am on Thursday, August 18th at Fern Park Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA under the direction of Blanchard St Denis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10 am until service time at Fern Park Cemetery on the 18th.
