Sena Elizabeth Townsend Lemoine was born on July 6, 1941, to Lener and Joe Townsend in Marthaville, LA. Liz passed away peacefully at home on October 8, 2024.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Roy Lemoine; her parents, Joe and Lener Townsend; three brothers, Frank Townsend, George Townsend, and Roy Townsend; and her sister, JoAnn Townsend Angell.

She is survived by her brother, Earl K. Townsend; her sisters, Myrtie Holley and Lanell Settle; her four daughters, Robin Freeman and her husband Roger, Dorcas Cotton and her husband John, Wanda Lemoine, and Davina Cotton and her husband Dean; her beloved grandchildren, David Caldwell, Joshua Caldwell, Matt Cotton, Chris Cotton, Samantha Daniel, Jason Bamburg, Michael Lemoine, and Cody Cotton; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth had a strong work ethic, starting when she worked for A&W Root Beer in Many. After moving to Natchitoches, she took a job at Morgan Lindsey on Front Street. From there, she moved on to Food King and stayed when it became People’s Warehouse. Later, she worked in the cafeteria at Lakeview High School during the day and at Sea & Sirloin at night. Her last job was with Alliance Compressors, where she worked for five years before retiring to spend more time with her family and indulge her love of gardening. She always said she felt closer to God in her yard among her flowers. She had a green thumb for sure and could make anything grow.

Elizabeth’s passing has created a void in our family, and we pray we can find a way to heal it. She touched all our lives in so many ways.

A private family memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
