Thelma LaCaze Coutee

Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Coutee will be held at 11 am Monday, January 17, 2022 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Father John Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow at Emmanuel Cemetery in Chopin, LA. The family will receive friend on Monday the 17th from 9 am until service time at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Thelma, 94 years of age and a resident of Chopin, passed away on January 12, 2022 in Christus Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, LA. She was born on April 18, 1927 to Felix LaCaze, Jr. and Carline Delacerda LaCaze in Cypress, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Carline LaCaze; husband, Eddie Coutee; and siblings, Lorene Brossett, Clara Jones, Harold LaCaze, Gifford LaCaze, Evelyn Delacerda and Elouise Hall. She is survived by her sons, Douglas Coutee and Michael Coutee; sister, Linda McCain and husband Lynn; brothers, Carroll LaCaze and wife Willie, and David LaCaze and wife Patricia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Thelma was a devout Catholic lady and was very rooted in her Christian faith. She was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family. She will be truly missed by all that knew and loved her. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Al LaCaze, Joey LaCaze, Roger Chapman, Felix Drewett, Neal Drewett, and Brent Paul. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Delrie, James Delrie, and Larry Paul.
