Theresa Earlene Bayonne

April 25, 1944 — February 11, 2025

Theresa Earlene Bayonne beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and lifelong education professional, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025, at the age of 80. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion that touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

Born to the late Alfred Sr. and Gladys Jacobs on April 25, 1944. in Alexandria , Louisiana, Theresa was the third born of five siblings: Fred Jacobs, Beverly Bonnette, Robert Jacobs, and Alfred Jacobs Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Beverly and Alfred, Jr.

She graduated from Fremont High School in Los Angeles, California. From there, her career began at the Mattel Toy company, but she later found her passion in education at St. Michael’s Catholic School, caring and mentoring young minds with patience, wisdom and dedication. Her career in education spanned decades, and she was known for her unwavering love for her students, always believing in their potential and encouraging them to reach for their dreams.

Beyond St. Michael’s, her greatest joy was found in her family. She was the devoted wife of Ernest Joseph Bayonne Jr. for 61 beautiful years. Their union was a true love story meeting as young teenagers, Ernest stole Theresa’s heart through love letters that led to holy matrimony and a life filled with love, laughter, and commitment. From their blessed union, Theresa became a loving mother to three sons, Kevin Michael (Ericka) and Joseph Ernest (Latessa). She was preceded in death by her dearly beloved son, Larry Eugene whom she now joins in eternal peace. Her true joy was in being a cherished grandmother to Brett, Lorin, Nia, Karsen, Amy, and special grandmother to Jessica, JoJo and Ericka.

Her heart was open to all—family, friends, and even strangers. Her kindness was boundless, her compassion endless, and her presence a source of warmth and comfort. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel loved and valued, and in return, she was adored by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Though she is no longer with us, her love, wisdom, and gentle spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched. She leaves behind many wonderful family members including dearest sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends who will forever cherish her memory and honor her legacy of kindness and love.

She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her love and light will remain in our hearts always.

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate her life will be held at 11 am on February 17, 2025, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Isle Brevelle. Entombment in the St. Augustine Catholic Church Mausoleum will follow the Mass.  The family will receive friends from 9 am until service time at St. Augustine Catholic Church.  

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Michael’s Catholic School in her memory, continuing her lifelong mission of caring for the students at the school.
