Van Richard LaCaze

Funeral services for Van R. LaCaze will be held at 10 am on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Weaver Cemetery in Flora, LA. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 10^th from 5 pm until 9 pm.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Dakota Poche’, Dalton Poche’, Mavryk LaCaze, Kross LaCaze, Patrick LaCaze, Mickey LaCaze, Danny LaCaze, and Todd Rachal. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Roy LaCaze, Wayne LaCaze, Riley LaCaze, Steve Rachal, Van Eversull, Barry Bernard, and Ken Henson.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sharon LaCaze; a son, Richard Shane LaCaze and wife Robyn; a daughter, Tina Nicole Poche’ and husband Carroll “C.E.” Poche’, II; a daughter by marriage, Michelle Gandy; sisters, Vergie Ann George, Rita Fay McCallister and husband John, Caroline Maxine Prothro and husband Charles, Charlene "Peanut" Lachney and husband Pete, and Becky Miley and husband Tim; brothers, Wayne LaCaze and wife Rose, Billy Roy LaCaze and wife Catherine, Riley LaCaze and wife Glenda, Danny LaCaze and wife Lynn, Patrick LaCaze and wife Carolyn, and Mickey LaCaze and wife Tanya; grandchildren, Mackenzie Basco and husband Casey, Mavryk LaCaze, Kross LaCaze, Dakota Poche’, Dalton Poche’, Delaney Poche’, and Victoria Gandy; a great grandchild, Charlie Basco and expecting another in October, Josie Basco; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, R.L. and Annie Mae LaCaze; and a brother, Louis "Buddy" LaCaze.

Van was a graduate of Cloutierville High School and was a carpenter by trade. He served in the Louisiana National Guard for six years. He worked hard all his life and was a good provider for his family. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t build or fix, even if he didn’t always have the right parts. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
