Billy Wester was born in New Orleans, LA to Orie Bill and Thelma Jewel (Castaing) Wester on February 5, 1945. When Billy was young, the family moved back to Provencal, LA, where he attended Provencal High School, graduating in 1963. Following graduation, he joined the Louisiana National Guard and began his life-long occupation as a painter. It would be hard to find a house in Natchitoches Parish that his brush or spray gun have not touched. Outside of painting, he was an avid gardener, beekeeper, and most notably, a fiddle player and collector. Not everyone who knew him liked him, but children and stray dogs loved him.
He is survived by his children, Sean Wester and wife Loretta of Bellwood, Jason Wester and wife Nina of San Antonio, Selena Wester (Robin) of Provencal, and Caleb Wester of Provencal; eleven grandchildren, Krystal Wester (Chris), Kelsea Wester, Kourtney W. Ashcraft (Kyle), Kyla W. Hansen (Jeremy), Hayley Wester, Jackson Wester, Eli Wester, Evan Wester, Acian Wester, Easton Sandifer, and Vivien Hamby; and great grandson Liam Ashcraft; siblings Francine W. Cook, Richard Wester and wife Carol, Steve Wester and wife Gwen, and Suzanne Custis and husband Marc. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wives, Joy Ward Rodrigues, and Barbara Roberts. Pallbearers will be Sean Wester, Jason Wester, Caleb Wester, Richard Wester, Steve Wester, Marc Custis, Carson Custis, and Easton Sandifer.
