Mary Masters

Mary Masters was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She left this world on January 27, 2022, at age 76, to claim her mansion, our Lord and savior promise in the book of John. Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. Mary was born to Ernest and Lillie Mae Durr on October 3, 1946. Mary grew up in a small home on Durr hill in Allen, La, with nine siblings where she learned actual core values in this temporary world, follow Jesus and love your Family. Mary is preceded in death by her husband Doug Masters of 56 years, Father Ernest Durr, Mother Lillie Mae Durr, Brother Roger Durr, and three sisters Carriemae Byrd, Jean French, and Sue Irvin. Mary is survived by two sons Andrew Masters, Anthony Masters, and his wife, Misty Masters, three grandchildren Hunter, David, and Grayson Masters. Brothers Charles Durr, Bobby Durr, Jerry Durr, Sisters Connie Smith, and Tammy Jo Trichel. Also a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Mary was always a hard worker. She was a waitress while attending cosmetology school in Houston, Tx. Mary came home to visit her family when she met the love of her life, Douglas Masters. Together, they had two children: Anthony and Andrew Masters. Mary loved her family fiercely, and her boys were her world; when the grandchild came, Mary experienced an unyielding love for them. Mary continued to work throughout her life and then retired from Walmart after 30 years. Mary knew her savior the Lord Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of Bellwood Baptist Church where she loved her church family. Mary loved spending time in the kitchen, creating large delicious meals for her family, and truth be told, it could have fed a small army. One of her most famous dishes was her crawfish fettuccine, always requested at every family gathering. Mary always made it known she had three types of meat prepared at every event. Mary shared her love of cooking with her sons and grandchildren, teaching them how to prepare Gumbo and enter into local completion several times. The large Family would gather in her home for many Christmas Eve and New Year's nights, creating memories from line dancing in her living room to the children outside popping fireworks and playing. Mary, with her siblings, would tell stories about her up bring that was filled with hope, love, and faith. Mary had a servant's heart, she open her home to several family members in the time of need. Mary had an act for sowing, she made several clothes for her younger siblings, as well as quilts she shared with friends and family. Mary loved listening to the police scanner and immediately picking up the phone sharing the updated news with her friends and family. You knew you were going to get that daily phone call from Mary no matter what. Mary had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation for everyone that helped out during this time. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 11:00 am at Bellwood Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Bellwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00 am until service time at the church.
