He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Essie Mae Cedars and Shelby Jean DeDon; his brother, James Roy Edwards; and his father-in-law, Douglas Lee. Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Brenda Lee Edwards; his daughters, Lisa Naquin (Early), Christina Eddins (David), and Tiffany Weeks (Derrick); his grandchildren, Brandon Edwards, Cody Edwards, Mark Eddins, Breanna Whitaker (Dylan), Theo Weeks, and Jude Weeks; his great-grandchildren, Autumn, Brennon, Bentley, Khloe, Tori, and Sawyer; his brothers, Joseph H. “Bo” Edwards, Jr. (Betsy), Marion Ray Edwards (Pat), and David Edwards (Reba); his “mama-in-law” Dorothy Lee; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends, and finally, his running buddy and niece, Ava Mae. Mike was in the Marines where he worked as an amtracker. He married the love of his life, Brenda Kay Lee, on April 4, 1980. They shared almost 43 wonderful years together. He was a truck driver for much of his life and owned his own trucking business for many years. He was a hardworking man who strived to provide for his family. He loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle with friends and enjoyed riding his horse, Big Boy. He was so proud of his new baby bull, Elvis. When you saw Mike, he always had a smile on his face and a joke for you. Mike was one of the funniest men ever and used his humor for good. If he saw a frown on your face, he would make you smile. He was a member of New Life Evangelism Center where he was a great witness for the church. No one could enter the church with chatting with him. Mike was truly “one of a kind” and many memories of him will live on. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are his brothers in Christ from New Life Evangelism Center including Wendell Bridges, Winston Bridges, Ronald Brown, Vince Brown, Ralph Dowden, Brian Hester, Tracy Jordan, and Jeff Tarpley. The family thanks everyone for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers during this time. A special thanks to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center’s doctors, nurses, and staff, especially Dr. Kathleen Kautz, Dr. Dennis Britten, Dr. Warren Botnick, nurses Fawn and Angie, and the ICU Critical Care team. Lastly, the family can’t thank Pastor Dennis Bjornberg and his wife Helen enough for their guidance and love.
