Shirley Ann LeBlanc Mayeux

Shirley Ann LeBlanc Mayeux passed away peacefully on October 15, 2021 with her family by her side at the age of 83. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Thursday, October 21, 2021 at The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Derek Ducote serving as celebrant. Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday, October 20th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6:30 pm on the evening of the 20th in the funeral home chapel. Shirley was born in Lafayette on November 9, 1937 to Oscar LeBlanc and Eulalie Broussard LeBlanc. She was a graduate of Lafayette High School. She met the love of her life, Tony Mayeux in 1959 and they married on February 24, 1962. They moved to Gulfport, MS to start their life together. Shirley and Tony lived in several states including Alabama, Kentucky, and Georgia before moving to Natchitoches in 1980 when Tony accepted a position to manage the National Fish Hatchery. Blessed with four children Monica, Julie, Michelle and Christopher. Shirley’s greatest pride was her family. She was devoted to her family and God. For many years she volunteered her time at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was a member of the Association of Catholic Women and taught CCD. Shirley was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruby and Loveline; brother, Loveless; and parents. She is survived by her adoring husband, Tony Mayeux; her children, Monica Key and husband Scott, Julie Mayeux, Michelle Brossette and husband Shane; and Christopher Mayeux and wife Michelle; grandchildren, Sara, Kimberly, Carol, Michael, Erica, Stephen, Christopher, William, and Matthew. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Shawn McNeilly, Dr. Mary Long, Kindred Home Health, Cardinal Hospice, Hattie Beard, and Ann Edmund for the care and compassion shown during such a difficult time. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Scott Key, Shane Brossette, Stephen Mayeux, Christopher Brossette, William Mayeux, and Matthew Mayeux. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Mayeux, Ray Ponthieux and Tony Fontenot.
