For people who are getting ready to attend the service of a loved one, having a clear idea of the kind of service is essential. This is particularly important if your loved one wanted to have a religious service like a Catholic one. Catholic services are conservative, and you want to be sure that you know what to expect. To help you prepare for attending the service, there are some things that directors of funeral homes in Cecilia, LA want you to remember.
You want to keep in mind that there are three main parts to most Catholic services. The process begins with the wake or viewing. This allows people to offer each other comfort and to recite the rosary together. The casket is usually present but it is not always open. The next step in the process is the funeral mass. The funeral mass takes place in the church where the person received sacraments throughout life. It can be a long service because the priest who leads it usually offers communion. After the funeral mass, the body is taken to the place of burial where there can be a short graveside service.
Be sure to keep in mind that the service is a conservative one that requires you dress somberly. You want to consider wearing black or other dark colors, and you also want to be sure to remember to be respectful of the religious aspects of the service. You do not have to take part in communion, if you do not want to, but you should still sit, stand, and kneel, when called to do so.
It can be important to send a sympathy gift to the family. This is something that can be crucial because it lets them know they are not on their own and that you have them in your thoughts. Sympathy cards are a great option, because they let you send the person a customized message of condolence. You also want to consider flowers. If you want to send flower arrangements, be sure you consider doing so from a florist. Include a card to let the family know who sent them. If you would like to make a donation in the deceased’s honor, be sure that you ask the family about this before doing so.
These are some important things you want to remember when getting ready to start the process of attending the service for a loved one who died. A Catholic service can be beautiful, and it can offer comfort, so do consider attending even if you have never been to one before.
